How do you fix the NFL's worst pass rush? The Falcons are dying to figure it out

The Atlanta Falcons are experimenting with several changes to boost their defensive line performance. They benched key offseason signing Matthew Judon, the outside linebacker, for the match against the New Orleans Saints in favor of Arnold Ebiketie. DeAngelo Malone has seen increased playing time at outside linebacker, while Khalid Kareem was given game action for the first time since last year.

Currently, the Falcons are struggling across major defensive statistics, ranking last in sacks and sack percentage, and nearly last in pressure percentage. Judon, known for his previous performance, has recorded only 1½ sacks this season, and acknowledges the need to improve within the Falcons’ defensive scheme. Coach Raheem Morris seeks to revitalize the pass rush, despite a disappointing outing against the Saints.

Ebiketie has shown potential, though inconsistencies remain. As part of their rebuild, the Falcons decided not to prioritize a defensive player with their high draft pick, opting instead for offensive talents. Defensive injuries may allow rookie Brandon Dorlus to make his debut, while Lorenzo Carter could return from injury soon. Denver, their next opponent, boasts a favorable offensive line, with protection timings that may challenge Atlanta’s attempts at pressure.

Despite their challenges, Falcons' defensive members emphasize persistence and maintaining their focus to achieve game-winning performances.
